Scutum is a diminutive constellation positioned just south of the celestial equator amid a region teeming with stars within the Milky Way, situated between Aquila and Sagittarius. It was introduced in the latter part of the 17th century by the Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius, who initially dubbed it Sobieski’s Shield in honor of his patron, King John Sobieski.<\/p>\n
