Andromeda portrays the princess from Greek mythology, chained to a rock as a sacrifice to a sea monster but ultimately rescued by the hero Perseus. The head of Andromeda is denoted by Alpha (α) And, also serving as one corner of the Square of Pegasus. In ancient times, this star was considered to be shared with the constellation Pegasus.
