In Greek mythology, Hercules, the hero, was tasked by King Eurystheus of Mycenae to complete 12 labors, one being the slaying of a dragon (represented by the neighboring Draco constellation). Hercules is portrayed kneeling on his right knee, with his left foot on the dragon’s head.
