Illustrating two fishes with their tails bound by a cord, this constellation traces its origins to the Babylonians in the Middle East, later passed down to the ancient Greeks. According to a Greek myth associated with the constellation, the fishes symbolize Aphrodite and her son Eros, who immersed themselves in the Euphrates to elude Typhon, a multiheaded monster.
