This ancient Greek constellation symbolizes a small bear, with its primary stars forming a shape known as the Little Dipper. Ursa Minor encompasses the north celestial pole, with Polaris, the North Pole Star, located less than 1 degree from the pole. The constellation is named after a nymph who nursed the infant Zeus.
